Staying at Pension Paradise - friendly, reasonably priced holiday accommodation in Pelekas, Corfu. Pension Paradise is a great base for a holiday with the best of everything Corfu offers the independent holidaymaker: great beaches, a wide range of more adventurous options, and good facilities in a unique village with an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. Paradise is quietly situated at the edge of Pelekas village, with lovely views towards Glyfada and over the Ropa Valley to the north of the island. The main part of the village is only a short stroll away though, and if you don't fancy going even that far, there is an excellent shop (Sophia's Market, selling great local fruit and vegetables, and a wide range of other food) only 50m away, and the fine and friendly 'Pink Panther' restaurant (with a pleasant terrace giving excellent views over Pelekas beach and the famous sunsets) just next door. The free minibus for Pelekas or Glyfada beaches stops right at the door all day and into early evening. We offer a range of accommodation: a selection of double/twin rooms, or a choice of apartments, one large, one medium sized, for families or groups (click links for more details). All accommodations have ensuite facilities, fridges and various kitchen equipment for self-catering, televisions, and private terraces or balconies. You're also welcome to visit in the large, cool, vine shaded terrace at the front, or to enjoy the views from the roof (see landscape above). Our prices vary throughout the season, and are always very reasonable: please contact us to confirm availablity and price for the time of your visit... Things to Do: There are a wide variety of activities to choose from. Three excellent beaches (Pelekas and Glyfada, or Myrtiotissa for the more adventurous) are only a short free minibus ride away. In the evening, the village has a good selection of tavernas, restaurants and bars to relax in. And on the rare days when the weather is not so great, it is well worth exploring some of the tiny twisting alleys through the 'kantounia', the older, main residential part of Pelekas. These wind up, across and down the steep hill which the village clings to, and lead past an amazing variety of ages and styles of home. If you're feeling more active, the walk up to the 'Kaiser's Throne' viewpoint is well worth it (and you can reward yourself with a well-earned drink or meal on the Levant Hotel's pleasant terrace). There are also organised walking tours through the beautiful local countryside, and keen walkers should check out the Corfu Trail. Pelekas is very centrally situated for seeing the whole island, and no visit to Corfu is complete without spending some time in the bustling and cosmopolitan Corfu Town, with its Venetian architecture, varied shops, narrow alleys and broad boulevards. The town is also the hub for an excellent island wide bus service (timetables) which serves not only all the various resorts and their beaches, but also many traditional villages. For those who want to venture even further afield, excursions to the nearby islands of Paxos (by Flying Dolphin or seaplane) or Albania can also be booked there, or at 'Papanagiotou Travel' in the village. |
